It has been blooming since late november interrmidently. How long can it continue, it is still forming a formidable amount of flowersbuds. it a big 3 ft wide old plant
This is exciting to hear, was hoping for a pic. Please show us one when you can!
This holiday is the only one missing from my cactus collection (not counting recent trade cuttings that look fine but no signs of new growth yet.) There are no solstice day or Presidents' day or cinco de Mayo cactus, right?
(Intermittently. Turn on spell check?)
Do you mean yours is a true Christmas cactus, or Schlumbergera x Buckleyi? I guess we could argue taxonomy all day and get nowhere, since it often depends on who you ask, but I think that's the name.
Either way, congratulations on all the blooms! Sounds like you're doing something right! How often/what do you feed it?
Here is a link that might be useful: Name and bloom information
I dont feed it! It is in average bright light and i water when dry. i meant S. buckleyi, i get confused trying to memorize the names. it is supposedly a hybrid between S. bridgessi and S trunctata
Wow! No food!? Well it's happy:) Would love to see some pics of it if you get a chance.
I will see if i can post but probally unlickly
Teen does your Christmas cactus have smooth edges or spiked edges? I have the true Christmas and thanksgiving cactus, and the Easter cactus.
Where's the picture? :-(
Happy for you though!
This is my true Christmas cactus and the remote is for scale.
Mines has smoothe edges. Im shure it is S. X buckleyi. Im am sorry but i cant show photos, my camera is broken
Wow, Teen do you know were you got yours at? Did you buy the plant small and grew it to 3 feet wide or did you buy it that size?
My Christmas Cactus is about to shed the last of her blooms....we had a long good bloom this Winter.
Grant, that's SOME PLANT! WOW!
TG, so sorry about your camera! Maybe you can find a way to earn some $ for a new one this summer.
My great grandmother gave it to me when i was six and it has doubled in witdh in that time
Wow! How cool to be trusted with such a beauty at the age of 6! And to do so well with it!
