I just noticed this on my Rubber Tree. Do they flower? What the heck is it?

..... can't see it very clearly - looks like an aberrant leaf. The fruit of elastica is a sort of out side in infloresence (flower) - a fig/synconium. It's roundish, yellowish, & usually less than .5" in diameter. It grows in leaf axils and immediately above old leaf bundle scars.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know what it is but the rest of the plant looks very healthy and is growing fast. This weird thing is growing just below a new leaf. Very strange looking.

I agree, your plant looks very healthy. I think that new leaf got scratched or something while it was forming.

Ficus elastica doesn't bear flowers in the sense that they are conspicuous AS flowers. An involuted mass of flowers and seeds form the fig, that commonly occurs indoors on specimens of elastica that have reached sexual maturity. Think of hundreds to thousands of juicy flowers and seeds growing from the inside surface of a small balloon, and you have a picture of of a fig (synconium). Within that context, the tree does flower indoors when conditions are favorable. If it didn't flower, there could be no figs, and we're certain it will bear figs.
