The box they came in said aptenia cordifolia but doesn't look like it on Wikipedia

Could be an Alternanthera. Pretty! Are there any little white puffball-looking things on it anywhere?

...which would be flowers. Sorry if I alarmed you that there might be pests.

I'm going to GUESS that it might be one of the narrow leaf Crotons.

Fun! The longer it takes Will to come back, the more fun guesses folks can conjure.

Might as well throw Iresine in the mix. I heard a little voice say 'Hemigraphis?' when looking at one of the leaves too.

Upright, anyone?

It's defiantly not a croton, it's almost succulent like and there are no flowers at all. I don't think it's alternanthera either it looks close! And it's defiantly not Iresine either, we also got some of those today and doesnt look like any hemigraphis ive ever seen but who knows! And thanks purple for posting the pic upright. When I post on my iPhone or iPad they look upright but when I look on the computer it's sideways.

Is it supposed to be a house plant, annual, do you know? Apparently more clues are needed. Any odor if a leaf is torn?

When one googles pics of Alternanthera, lush plots of ground-grown plants show up but this does look like the 'Purple Knight' I had in a pot a few years ago.

Maybe a closer pic of the top of a leaf?

Is there a Cordyline like that?

Here's a close up with a penny for size recognition.
