need help identifying this plant

myrtle70August 23, 2013

I received this plant from a friend at the beginning of the year. It had very distinctive tight curly flowers. I never thought to take a pic in flower. It had lots of buds but they all died without opening. I seem to have nearly killed it with over watering but it's coming back to life. My mother thinks it's a Gloxinia bit I'm not sure. I'd love to know what it actually needs for flowering. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I think your mom is right. Post this under Gesneriads or African Violets and you should get some helpful suggestions and info. from garden web members who know how to grow gloxinias.
