Tips to restore my little pine tree

ChrismanSeptember 2, 2013

I got this little pine tree about a year ago and followed instructions to keep it out of direct sunlight and give it just a little bit of water.

Unfortunately, it has started to wilt and turn brown lately. I am not sure how to care for it and revitalize it. Can anyone give me any care tips?

I am also not sure that I know what kind of plant it is.

Thanks for the help in advance!

First, explain the white stuff, or provide a species so we can check to see if that is the tree's normal habit. It doesn't look typical of any pine I've ever seen, except maybe P parviflora 'Tanima no yuki', and then only if that's a spring picture.

Pines prefer bright sun, and demand a soil with good drainage. They also need to be sited outdoors and fed (fertilized) regularly.

Yes, the white stuff looks, unfortunately, like holiday 'flocking.' I assume it's been cleaned up.

As Al says, this is an outdoor plant.
