Spider Plant advice

sweet_chicken(5b)September 12, 2010

I'm finding lots of information in lots of places, and I'm hoping to get more concise advice here.

Here is a picture of the plants

Here is a better picture of the pots they are in:

Currently they are in a west-facing window with plenty of light. As you can see there is no browning of the leaves, and there is lots of new growth happening. They are planted in a Miracle Gro generic potting soil.

Here are my questions:

1. What is the best soil to use to get the most green from my plant? Where can I find a specific recipe?

2. What is the best type of pot to use, or does it matter?

3. What is the best size of pot to use, given that the mother is in a 9" pot now, and the baby in a 4"?

Thank you so much for your advice!

I found A1's "recipe" for container soil. Thanks!
