Easter Cactus...what now?

Enterotoxigenic00September 1, 2012

Thanks to all those who helped awhile back with my problems with EC/CC (loosing leaves, segments, and rotting)the plants have sprung back and have lots of new growth. All the cutting I've planted are sprouting new growth, I am so amazed and pleased. But, on some of the EC the newer leaves are curving downward. The leaves on the plants are all firm, I water when soil is dry, and drains quickly. I haven't seen any bugs.

Thank you for any suggestions.

Are you giving these plants enough light? Those 'leaves' aren't leaves, but modified stems. And like the stems of any plant that do not receive sufficient light for the species, they become lank and leggy.

These are tropical cacti, true cacti. The fleshy body of a desert (arid) cactus is also modified stem tissue. The spines of a cactus are modified leaves. Interesting, huh? Anyway, I don't think that your plants are receiving quite enough light.

aahhhaa! Ok, so I see...now. It's only the 'front' leaves or now modified stems that are doing the downward curve trying to reach the light. The ones closest to the light are not curving. How interesting. Thank you rhizo_1.
