Winter zones / Summer zones

TAB3230January 7, 2013

My grass were looking greener in observed area last year same time, other than this winter greener grass/ sod area, what will cause that? It is really strange to see different parts of sod landscape to be greener than others depending on seasons, shouldn't they all be same all seasons?

You don't say where you live but by your zone I assume it is around the Gulf of Mexico. In San Antonio our winters are relatively mild. If I continue to water weekly in the winter, my lawn will remain as green as in the summer. My next door neighbor is doing that right now. My lawn is slightly dormant. The neighbor on the other side is really dormant. It depends on how you water.

Is your lawn new? There could be residual fertilizer in certain spots. Coupled with the water that could cause the zone effect.
