Garden Tools

mjowest(5)June 13, 2011

I have a bunch of old tools- lots of shovels, spades, a hay rake...

I'd like to decorate them up to either gift or resell or keep... you know how that goes.

I don't want to paint them. I searched, and saw an old post on mosaic -ing a shovel, and will consider that!

any other ideas? I'm thinking 'something' with grapevine???

My friend bought a cute birdhouse that was put on the top of an old shovel. The shovel got stuck in the ground to act as a pole. It was adorable. Here's a picture of them at the fleamarket we went to with JT a couple of years ago.

Those are very cute! too low to the ground if you have kitty cats. I haven't answered because other than mosaic, I am stumped. People have made cool fences out of tools.

The shovel head lady is to cute! I too would like some ideas on old tool pieces. I have mostly the tool part, ya know....the kind missing the handle. Hoe, shovel, rake etc.

This was an old cultivator & some insulators that I attached to an old barn board to make a "rack" for hanging garden tools or jacket/hat/etc....I sold it at Farmer's Mrkt.

I've seen birdhouses attached to old rakes (flimsy kind) turning the rake upside down so the handle can be stuck in the ground or attached to a post or gate or something.

Have fun! Jeanne S.

I liked this old rake head idea

And Luna, I think the birdhouse shovels are really neat.
