I know you've mentioned bark size before, but I forgot.. :)

What size bark do I need to mix w/soils?

Is it 1/8th or 1/4"? Or another size? Thanks, Toni

What soil Toni, ?
Gritty or 5-1-1 ?

It varies depending on what you are making.

Yes, Toni, just as Jojo says. It make a difference.

Are you looking to make a variation of the 5.1.1 mix which has peat and perlite with varying bark sizes?
If I know you, you are looking to mix more bark into your choice of mix and wonder what size is best?

Or the grittier mix which which uses specific sizes and of which needs to be sifted?

How's that eye anyhow? Is it getting better? You had many worried here!

Jojo..how are you?

Actually, it's for neither. I make my own soils...

For some reason, they stopped selling bark in my part of the world. Stores sell Orchid mix, which is fine for Orchids, but I use bark for tropicals.

Mike, we must have been typing the same time.

Perlite and sometimes Peat is added, depending on the plant.

Anyway, know which size I need?

Hello, Toni, Mike, and JoJo!

Toni, I think you'll want bark in the 1/8 to 1/4 inch range. The Perlite should be
in the same range, too - so of course rinse out the dust and the small pieces.

Josh, Thank you.

I've bought bark for years, in huge bags, but never bothered measuring a piece..lol.

Last night I removed a couple pieces in soil...measured. .25.

Found a source, so it should be in the mail.

Perlite is .25, too. Thanks much. Toni
