Plant ID

curiositykatNovember 1, 2012

I picked up this plant from walmart on clearance and can't seem to find an ID. Main reason I am asking is I can't seem to make it happy. It had a few damaged leaves when I got it but its gotten worse. Its tried to send out some new leaves but they fell off for some reason. So an ID would be helpful, then I might be able to figure out why its so unhappy.

Is there a stem, or are the leaves all coming from the soil?

Its a stem. I've taken some better pictures. Its leaves are paired on the stem. The leaves are a tiny bit thicker then the leaves on my pothos, but they are more flexible. Other then that its a very basic looking plant. I've had it for over a month and the entire time its leaves have been slowly shriveling up. I've tried more water, less water, more light and less light but I can't seem to make it happy.

I'm still not certain, but Google (Hoya carnosa) pictures.

What size is your plant? Height, and pot size.
H carnosa's vine when larger, more mature, but you 'might' have a young, multi-stem Hoya.

I'm thinking it's an Ardisia--coral berry. I have this plant and it's doing well. I think the key with this plant is to NEVER let it dry out! Mine did and I thought it was a gonner. After it dried out it shed leaves and was basically just stems. I almost threw it out but just left it alone all summer-out doors. It looks amazing now. If I can post pictures I will. The plant is currently in low and I do mean LOW light. Seems to be ok. I think it's just having a fit, that's all. I hope this helps. Nice plant. Kyle
