Hi Tiff,

You have a beautiful flowering frond. This is a great sign that your palm is very healthy!!

Here is a pic of my large palms with the flowering shoots and then they turn to seed.

Great job!!

Strong work too!

YOu dont see this on to many little palms..

I have lots of palms and i will say that i have never seen one that small flower like that.

Yes, that's what it looks like. In time, it will make little balls that turn yellow.

What do I do with it? Do I plant it for another palm?

I cant take any credit for this...the person who gifted me this palm did all the work. :)

It will make the yellow things, then turn brown, the yellow things, then the stalk that was holding them. When your curiosity is satisfied and it's not pleasing to look at anymore, just give it the ol' snip'eroo. They do that every year.

Saw Elkay's comment on the other thread. After seeing it once, you may feel the same way. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think they're really cool, the yellow balls.

Mother nature did that, just ask anyone who has a palm that grows great but won't bloom.

Tiff, at first I thought it was a new baby.
But, everyone here says it's a flower, so it's a flower. :)

I haven't any IDea what this palm might be, but here's how flower stem grew.

So, your stems should grow longer, then little bulbs will form.

Laura. How beautiful!!! I'm green w/envy.
According to some, Sabel is supposed to be one of the cold hardiest palms around.
Another is Windmill Palm, Trachycarpus.

Problem, in order to grow in-ground palms in z5, they must be mature. Cost 200-300, plus shipping. :(

Except for monster insects/spiders, I'd love living in Fl. lol.

Tiff, nope, your friend didn't do all the work..Your palm did. :)
Or as Purple stated, Mother Nature. Or God. Whomever sees to our plants. Toni

Can you plant the seeds to produce more plants?

I dont know whether this species is dioecious or monoecious, that is if there are seperate male and female plants as in Holly or if both sexes are on one plant/flower.
If its dioecious then no, you wont get seed unless you can introduce your palm to a friends palm that is also flowering.
