Question for Marlene re: Spiders

sprout_wi(z4 WI)July 11, 2010

Marlene- I can't get your spiders out of my head (lol). The second spider has a body made from a pump strainer from a well (?). I cannot seem to find anything that even resembles that. Am I missing soemthing? Is it a part that is no longer in production? I am looking for something similar. I have the perfect web - ready and waiting.

I would love ot see more of the things you and your DH have made. Thanks!!

Hi Sprout~

So happy you like my spiders! The body from the one on the web was made from what I called a strainer...it was on the end of the pipe that my dad had in the creek here that fed into his irrigation system. That's the only description I can give you. It is rather old...probably from the 50's. The bigger garden spider's body is made from a tractor cultivator. Actually it's two pieces welded together...one was the point and the other was a piece that held it in place on the cultivator. The yellow markings are actually the "thingies" from old shutters that held them back against the house. Her head is a drill chuck. I put my album link below...hope that helps. Let me know if I can give you any more info.
