Too late to fix patches?

mikec82May 24, 2012

There are probably 5 or 6 patches in my back yard, each about three square feet, that have next to no grass in them. With it being almost June, I'm not sure if it's too late to plant any seed/fertilizer in those patches? There is little shade in the back yard, and I am from the south, so we will be getting a hot summer in a month or two. My plan was to till up what was there, seed/fertilize, and then water it like crazy. I thought about sod, but I thought it might stand out too much, or not get a root system in time. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Do not till. Whatever your final plan becomes, tilling will only lead to problems later.

What kind of grass do you have? If you have bermuda then you can seed all you want in the summer.
