I am trying to etablish lawn as well as prevent erosion on newly graded area. I will be planting fescue, should I plant a faster growing seedas well? I have some rye grass on hand but is it too late to plant? If so, any other suggestions..Bahia ? .soil is red clay. (this is in the country/pasture) Thanks

How about clover. Germinates fast it's not going to get smoked by disease like rye and you don't have to fertilize much. You can kill it easily in the late summer/ early fall when you seed tall fescue

Here is a link that might be useful: Clover seed
