I can not get motor to start on regular basis It tries to start with choke in full position but will not fully start[or keep running] The exhaust shows black smoke but will not get to the run mode even with start fld. Occassionly Out of the blue it will start runs and sounds like it will run forever shut it off and back to what i was talking about The plug is always wet compression is 85. i have removed flywheel to check for sheared key looks perfect. There is always spark at the plug after removing and grounding the plug. I have had carb off twice removed all jets blew air in all orfices could find no dirt or blocked passageways I have not adjusted valves that is my next project since i read on a forum that adjustment is .006. What is normal compression on that engine? Thanks for any suggestion

Has the igniter ever been changed? This is the chip that tells the coil when to fire. That and knowing that the choke is working as it should come to mind.
