What is this killing my grass?

trassierJune 6, 2014

Over the past few days I have noticed 5 spots like this on my grass. Each spot is about 5 inches around and after a few days the affected blades of grass turn black. Is this an insect or a fungus? Anyone know how to treat this?

That is a slime mold usually will not kill grass. Mowing or raking will help knock the spores off the leaf blade. Make sure not to overwater.
