Flywheel removal?

rustyj14(W/PA)May 18, 2011

Somebody please tell me why the engine makers don't thread the holes in the flywheel so a person could turn bolts or screws into them, to use a regular pulling tool?

Yesterday, i tried to use a gear puller to take off the flywheel of a "curb find" mower, but the lack of holes, or the lack of threaded holes, made me use the Chinese Hammer Trick! Works every time!

Costs maybe .25 per hole, time etc, multiply that by a few hundred thousand. You got a curb find and you want to complain about the mfgs? :) Buy a $4 threading tap.
