push mowers??

rustyj14(W/PA)July 26, 2014

I've had 2 walk-behind lawn mowers brought in, because they won't start! Both bought new-lately new! Upon inspection, I can't find a primer bulb, nothing like before models.
Folks say the primer is not needed! HMMM?! Say that atmospheric pressure will convey the fuel to the carb intake area. WELL, the atmospheric pressure here is either non-existent, or the mower engine doesn't understand plain language! Only fix I have found is a vegetable squirter as used by a cook! Anybody have some advice? I sent both back to owners.

They may have that mechanical flapper type automatic choke. They can be a pain in the butt. I use carb cleaner to prime it in cool weather .Lots of mowers have this Briggs Ready Start system. Here is one video on how it is suppose to work.
