John Deere 425 problems

jd425August 1, 2009

I have a JD 425 all wheel steer with a 60" deck with 755 hours since new. I have not had even ONE problem with it (not even a deck belt) but am wondering how many hours I can expect before my engine and hydrostatic transmission start showing problems. I mow 7 acres each week and pull another 42" mower beside me. I love my JD and will trade for another 425 if I can find one with low hours. I'm not happy with the new series JD AWS becuz you sit so much higher and I can't reach the ground from the seat to pluck the very few dandelion puff-seek-balls that show up from week to week. I blow out my radiator and pre-screen weekly and change oil and filter often but I'm still wondering at when I will start seeing trouble. What kind of engine life can I expect before valves or rings need work?

What items are first likely to need replacement? Thanks for your input!!

This is just my opinion but I think your mower will last you quite along yet cuz you are not abusing it and you seem to be maintaining it very well.Who can really say how long any machine will actually last before things go wrong?I think that the better you take care of your JD the more hrs you are going to get without issues.
Good Luck To You!
