Saving burnt grass

keivnheapAugust 13, 2014

We sodded the front of our home to replace bad grass. I left the water off by mistake for three hot days on vacation and a strip of steep lawn 2 ft x 10ft is now white and has been for about eight days. Looking close within the dry dead grass I see a few little new sprouts of small green blades one half inch or so.

Is there a chance to save this grass that is on a slope of 3.5 in per foot, by the driveway and in direct sun? I have a black net material over it to lessen the sun and think it best to not rake out the dead grass to help protect the new growth ( perhaps 10 sprouts per sq.ft.)

Any advice appreciated.

What kind of grass are you asking about? If it is fescue, you'll need to reseed about now. If it was Kentucky bluegrass, it will spread to fill in the thin spots.
