Unknown Plants in my Garden ...

vja4him(z8 CA)January 27, 2014

I am hoping to identify the two largest plants in the center, with long leaves ....

I think this is Dandelion, but not sure ... I have scattered lots of seeds (over 100 different species, including Dandelions).

Also ... What is the plant in the lower right? Could that be Mallow? Somebody told me that I have Mallow growing in my garden and that it is edible.

Looks like Nemophila to me. -Did you sow either baby blue eyes or five spot seeds? I think the second one may be Malva neglecta, a common weed in California.

Here is a link that might be useful: Nemophila seedlings

I did not plant baby blue eyes or five spot. However .... I did have several packets of mixed flowers, and I think there may have been some herbs and greens mixed in too. The print was too small for me to read.

I know that I have lots of Henbit, Stinging Nettle and Chickweed growing wild all over my garden. Also have Radishes and Mustard Greens and Tomatoes coming up as volunteers every year, along with hundreds of volunteer California Poppies and Calendulas .....

It isn't Dandelion. I see Henbit, Malva neglecta and stinging nettles. But the middle two elude me but look a bit mustardy.

Bottom center might be Kohlrabi or Kale ... I have scattered probably around 50 different kinds of seeds, so there will be a wide variety of plants growing everywhere ....

I have dozens of different species of Greens, many which are in the Cabbage Family ....

If you mean the very small plant bottom centre, that looks like Sonchus to me.
