A White-lined Sphinx Moth. I hovered like a hummingbird. I had never seen one before and it took me a bit of time to figure our what it was (thanks internet)!
What a terrific photo! You truly look and observe your garden and it's inhabitants, good job!
You also have a great camera.
Great photo, like the depth of field. And congrats in identifying the moth.
Following up on kris's comment about the camera. What camera did you use?
Another shot of this critter. I have a Nikon D3000 (on sale at Sam's) and it was set on automatic. I don't know if I had tried a faster shutter speed whether I might have been able to 'stop' the motion. I took 6 shots in 20 seconds and then he/she flew away.
My goodness! I missed this, yesterday; sure glad I rechecked, today. He/she/it has very interesting markings.
Thanks for the info about the camera, Jim. I'm a long time user of Nikon cameras, before digital, so I'll check it out.
