Please identify this serrated leaf shrub

maxgMarch 20, 2009

I'd really appreciate it if anyone could help assist me in identifying this plant, it doesn't look too hapy but could easily recover. It has serrated edge, oval shaped leaves about an inch in length. Is it just a common bush or shrub of some type? THANKS!

Thanks for the reply Ted, I agree it does remind me of an Ardisia, similar leaves, but I don't think that's quite it... Any other ideas? THANKS again!!! -Max

I agree it resembles Ardisia but I think it's going to
turn out to be a Euonymus possibly variegated one at that.

Yeah, looks to be one of the many Euonymous varieties. In South Texas, anyone who knows avoids all of them because of constant and severe problems with various scale insects. The armored ones are very persistent. There is a variety of scale called Euonymous Scale, if that tells you anything. In AZ they may do well. Don't know.
