Vine with green fruit of some sort...

Emma-KateMarch 14, 2013

I've just discovered this vine in my garden: dark green leaves with these light green fruits. The fruit is kind of spongy and white on the inside with a big cluster of small yellowish/brown seeds in the middle. It also gave off a white liquid when I picked it off the vine.

I live in Cape Town, South Africa - climate is Mediterranean, and it's summer at the moment so very hot and quite dry. The vine is growing on a low wall that has quite a lot of exposure to intensive sun (but on the other side of the wall (where the soil is) the garden is quite dark and often damp as it's shaded by two lemon trees and a frangipani tree).

Can anyone tell me what plant this is? (Excuse me for speaking so naively, I know basically nothing about plants.)

Perhaps it's Araujia sericifera .

Ficus repens, or Creeping Fig .The fruit is not edible.
