We showed this picture at a local nursery and were told that it might be nightshade. Is it?

Probably a vining Honeysuckle, Lonicera.

find a better nursery ...

or at a min ... talk with the owner or manager ... and if they say the same thing.. see above ...

i will skip the nightshade is poisonous lecture ..... since you dont have it ...
