friend or foe

toad_ca(z7b Bellingham, WA)March 9, 2014

I'm thinking this is a foe, i.e. a weed. But having dug up all my baby poppy plants before during this late winter weeding-frenzy, I figured I'd check. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that's an Epilobium seedling. Not sure which species, some are native here.

basically a perennial that selfseeds very succesfully,

Thank you all for your responses! I wish it were Ajuga, but Epilobium makes sense. Now I can dig them up without fear!
