Frilly leaves and black seeds

RonninatorMarch 27, 2014

This plant is crowding my blackberries. At this point in the season, it is everywhere in the planter box and I don't know how to get rid of it. I thought an ID might help.
When it gets big enough, it produces v-shaped branches with black cone-shaped seeds. I didn't see any flowers.

I appreciate any tips. One thing: I have a lot of bird seed in my yard, so if it's not a weed, it would be that.

Artemisia vulgaris/Mugwort, I think.

Hi there
Black seeds are not typicall for Artemisia.

The mentioning of bird seed points to Ambrosia, hitching a ride in the bird seeds.
Its pollen is difficult for hay fever suffererers,
leaves could irritate the skin.

I would digg it up asap, trying to get the main root.

And perhaps look for different bird seed

Here is a link that might be useful: Ambrosia artemisifolia
