Thanks to those who identified my flowering almond last week.

I saw this flowering tree on my walk today, can you id it?

Yes, Amelanchier - I'll leave it to the locals to decide which one.

Genus has probably still never been completely worked out to everyone's satisfaction.

Serviceberry is good enough for now. Thank you for the confirmation.

When I took this picture Saturday am I had no idea what the tree was. But on Friday I had planted some little bareroot trees, including an A. canadensis and A. alnifolia and so I was looking at pictures of serviceberries to know what to expect and was pleased when I thought I recognized the flowers.

I think this might be the same tree in a pic I took last fall. If I get color like this on my trees I will be very happy.

Don't expect this appearance from A. alnifolia, it often goes yellow in fall.
