Please identify the attached. The variegated leaves can become curly and the purple flowers look like orchids.
I can't remember the name of the plant, but I don't think you have variegated leaves. It looks like insect damage...thrips perhaps, and perhaps a nutrient deficiency as well. I could certainly be incorrect about that....
Sometimes making ID's can be difficult if the OP fails to provide their location\zone info. Would also help to know if this is a houseplant or something planted outside. Extreme closeup shots often don't give an idea of size, leaf structure, form. A picture really is worth a thousand words. :-)
Some form of Pseuderanthemum, I think.
So sorry, here's an additional photo with someone holding it. I'm in the Philippines (hot and humid most of the year).
I don't see any insects so I don't think it is insect damage. They look that way even when they were smaller. These plants are planted outside.
