Found growing in Queensland, Australia, mid summer. the land owner brought in the mower the next day. One of the Paper flowers?
Closer view of the flower
Wish I could get a closer look at the plant itself. It looks more like a Coreopsis - but who would broadseed that? Or how would so much escape/re-seed? What does your neighbour usually use the land for?
The land is actually part of the grounds at the back of Kingaroy Hospital. I have attached another pic which is the only other one I have. When I next go back there, this December, I will try and get a closer picture, as long as they haven't cut it again. It is beautiful sight.
my first thought is either coreopsis or brite lites cosmos

It looks like both of you are on the ball. Because of the profusion in the meadow type environment, I assumed that they were native.
Researching Coreopsis in Queensland, I was gob-smacked to find that Coreopsis lanceolata is well established in Qld and NSW with the potential of becoming a major weed problem.
Thanks, both of you.
