Need ID!!!

daydreamzzApril 8, 2013

I want to plant more of these since they seem to thrive in my yard but I have no idea what it is? My real estate agent told me she thought it was supposed to be more of a bush but the previous owners never trimmed it so they're the size of a tree now. The leaves turn red where there's new growth in the spring and the leaves stay on year rough- the leaves are waxy and there are several trunks. I live in Raleigh, NC.

Commonly called 'Red Tip Photinia'.

I strongly recommend that you never cut this down to the size of a shrub. I love to see these plants as multi -or single trunked specimen trees.

I have never seen one that became a beautiful tree before. They use them here as hedges.
