The hummingbirds are heading your way.
Lord how I love those birds.
Talk about lifting your spirits after a long winter.
Indeed! I've been periodically checking the migration map for their progress. They usually get here in mid-April, and I usually see them around the first of May.
It will be another 3 weeks before they show up here. My son lives north of us but at a lower elevation and his hummers usually show up a week earlier.
I love those birds I think they look like little gentlmen and should be wearing top hats. I had to take my feeders down this year Two freeloading cats in my neighborhood and hang out at my houe are jumpers
I'm going to start building up my number of feeders and plants
this year. I am so looking forward to a year of having hummingbirds, butterflies and songbirds.
We're fortunate to have hummers year round. In the winter we get migrating birds (Rufous and Calliope) from the northwest. They head home about the same time the Ruby-throateds return. Dh & I ate dinner on the screened porch tonight and we got to watch a female RTHU visit the porch feeder a few times during our meal.
