Very common but old fashioned perennial, known as red valerian. Self seeds to the point of being of being a weedy invasive in many parts of the country. Extremely easy to grow from seed, where it will bloom the first year.

When you say "from seed" do you mean just tossing them on prepared soil? And can I do that now or is it too late?

Got any idea where you could buy plants like that (without having to mail order)? I have a spot where it wouldnt matter if it went crazy...lol
