"phlox" on USPS Stamps (Vintage Seed Packets)

failjolesfail(6B-7)April 1, 2014

Has anyone else noticed that the "phlox" on the new stamp series called "Vintage Seed Packets" doesn't really look like phlox?

To me, it looks like a fancy Dianthus of some sort...

Is there a variety of phlox that looks like this? Did they borrow a seed packet that contained an error? Did they design faux vintage seed packs for the series and make the error?

Does this drive anyone else as nuts as it does me!?!

Here is a link that might be useful: http://uspsstamps.com/stamps/vintage-seed-packets

Never grown it myself, but there is a cultivar of Phlox drummondii called 'twinkle star' that looks similar.

Looks like Sweet William to me, which is Dianthus as you said. And the Alyssum doesn't look like Alyssum to me either. Such is common names, I guess!
