please id this plant for me

We have lots of these around and I think the tiny flowers are beautiful. The entire flower head shown here (with several tiny flowers together) is about 1 1/2" across and the actual coloring is a mauve color not the purple it looks like in the photo. It seems that they might strangle other plants but I want to see what it is and if there is any useful application for them :) as they are so pretty.

A kind of Asclepias? (milkweed)? Looked a bit like Asclepias speciosa but I don't think that's the right species.

any hint of onion or garlic odor??? ...

something in the alium family ... chive... compare with chinese chive ... though i dont know if the link will take you to what i was looking at ...

and i dont understand your word.. strangling ...???

seems awful early for milkweed ... but i never gardened in z9 AZ
