First one is lyreleaf sage, Salvia lyrata.
Second one is redtip, Photinia x fraseri.
Third one is Tagetes, I am not sure which species.
Fourth one is sweet William, Dianthus barbatus .
Eight is certainly a weed.
Eleven is Geranium carolinianum, considered a weed.
Twelve is a weed but I can't remember the name.

And that's all I know.

Ken. you couldn't open the album and view the slide show? This was a great way to present numerous images.

Have no idea what the gelatinous stuff is. What leads you to believe that it's a cocoon or something like that?

There were multiple "cocoons." They may have been egg sacks or perhaps a strange fungus. Unfortunately I didn't observe what happened to them.

I think your cocoons are decaying shelf fungus.
