Need help identifying strange wild shrub with seed pods

mimosa_sunrise(6)April 7, 2010

I've recently became curious with a plant growing in the forest near my home.

It appears to be a native wild shrub which in late summer will grow hot pink spiky seed pods followed by orange berries which dangle from seed pods after they open. It looks like a strange parasol once pod has bloomed fully.

I'm really stumped and have tried to find answers through various google searches so any help is appreciated.
