Jasper, Alberta in May (Very Picture heavy!) Part 1

gardenbug(Canada zone 5)May 17, 2009

We had beautiful weather, a lovely place to stay, saw much wildlife, walked the Maligne Canyon, tried a bit of "geocaching", and just plain enjoyed ourselves. (There's also a photo of me in my pink ribbon just after Baby Girl's birth announcement.)

DH geocaching in town. Turns out they have removed all the caches!

This is the source of a stream emerging from under our hiking trail:

Don't we live on a magnificent planet?!! I can almost smell the pines and hear the water, it reminds me a good deal of the White Mtns. of NH, but on a much reduced scale. Breathtaking, 'bug.

I was particularly taken by the colors in the shots with Mule deer and Big Horn sheep; that lovely soft, buff tinged with grey, hat will soon be replaced with Spring's fresh greens.

Wish the pink ribbon was more visible, though...

Stunning!! Makes me want to jump on a plane and fly right out there. Wonderful that the weather was so cooperative.

Marie, I love these pics. They make me nostalgic for the Idaho Rockies.

Gardenbug....DD and I looked at these on Saturday. We both thought it was very pretty country there! I wondered if that was a wild donkey? What was in the water? You were pretty close to that ram who was staring right at you! Beautiful mountains, it all looks so serene. Happy you posted these.

No donkeys..."mule deer".

I was impressed by his horns and stayed in the car for that shot! ;)

In the water? Ice & ducks. I haven't looked up what kind yet.

You take wonderful photos, bug. I am so impressed with the beauty in Canada's landscape, and in your ability to capture it so well on film. I've never been there, but I remember seeing it on the big IMAX screen at Epcot Center in Florida. Of all the countries shown at Epcot, I walked away that day only remembering Canada. You've given me a taste of that memory. Thanks.
