fragrant flowering plant in Guadeloupe

SueLevyMay 11, 2014

Dear All,

I came across this plant in Guadeloupe. It was growing on the border of a banana plantation. Leaves look a bit like an aspidistra. The flower had a glorious perfume resembling jasmine. I could not find this plant in the local botanical garden and no one could tell me what it might be.

Very grateful for any ideas!
Sue
