Please help me identify this species of Trillium. Thank you!
(Please note that it is uncharacteristic of the usual spotted maroon, white or yellow Trillium, thus my confusion).
I see a flower bud. You should post another picture when it opens. Possibly T. erectum but can't say for sure.
There are also two seed heads of Eranthis hyemalis, Winter Aconite, which would have bloomed really early with little yellow flowers.
Did you get the Trillium shipped from somewhere? Looks similar to southern nodding trillium (T. rugelii) but that would not normally be found in NY.

My apologies. I have a specimen flowering, but it is too far off of the path to effectively take a photo with clarity. With that being said, the flowers are very large and white. I believe that it may be Trillium grandiflorum aka Great White Trillium.

Big, broad white petals would be that one - if the open flowers are up-facing.
