Clover-Like plant spreading through yard

jrmoormannoMay 11, 2014

This plant popped up in my yard toward the end of last summer. It is quickly spreading, and I'm curious as to what it even is. This spring is the first time I've seen it flower, with the purple flowers shown. Any help id-ing it would be great!

Ground ivy, Glechoma hederacea. I personally don't mind it at all in my yard but there are many you poison it out of existence in their spaces. It is quite mowable and stays green when the grass goes dormant. Your choice.

It looks like an African Violet.
