Sweetly fragrant & wild! What is it?
I live in a rural area of the Texas hill country just west of Austin. (zone 8)
I was walking around my property, crossing over an earthen dam that stretches across a wet weather creek and caught a sweet scent in the breeze. I followed my nose and came upon this multi-trunked shrub/small tree (about 6 feet) that had a wonderful fragrance similar to honeysuckle but milder and not quite so pungent.
I'd love to identify it and maybe even plant some more!
Someone has suggested sweet olive but I would be surprised if that is it as there seem to be some differences - the leaves don't seem as thick and glossy for one. And is that native to Texas?
