(another) What is this question

johnshenryAugust 13, 2013

Well I had 2 invasive species taking over more and more of my yard until recently I identified nutsedge, got some sedgehammer, and oh boy, does that stuff work great. It is really spreading fast in my neighbors yard.

The other grass has been appearing every year, in small patches. A bit more each year. It is actually a nice grass, grows very low, almost wouldn't need mowing, nice color and is very soft to the touch. But it stands out in my nearly 100% KBG lawn and in mid to late summer, patched of it completely die off, while other patches thrive.

Here's some pics:

Can anybody identify it and tell me how to eradicate it??

TIA

JH

That photo is not good for identifying the weed but it looks like St. Augustine grass. Better pictures would help.

Probably gonna need a close up picture of the yellowing grass next to the darker green grass. Can you get the camera 3 inches away on a cloudy day?

Where do you live?
What is your watering regimen (frequency and duration)?
When were the last two times you fertilized and what did you use?
Have you used any herbicide or insecticide on the lawn in the past few seasons?
How high/low do you mow?
