Found this growing back by my garden. Not sure if its a weed or possible vegetable plant?
Looke like pokeweed. Not a vegetable. But it is a plant.
Not a vegetable?
Here is a link that might be useful: Some would disagree.
^Well, lambsquarters' is much more benign to eat and most would still refer to it as a weed, not a commonly consumed vegetable :)
Not in zone 2b perhaps, but in zone 8 it is. Lambsquarters' hates the heat so we use what we can get.
pokeweed is poisonous ...
it can be eaten.. but there are VERY PRECISE timing and preparation requirements ..
and the birds will sow a couple million more for you.. if you let it go to seed
you will need to dig out the entire horseradish type root .. or it will come back.. if this is its second season.. you will NOT pull it out ... even RUp will not kill it the first time ... if aged ...
I can't help but notice the foliage isn't typical to my Pokeweed which I assume is Phytolacca americana.

Might have gotten hit with herbicide early and that deformed the leaves.
And yes saltcedar is right that some people new eat parts of it ... very carefully.
