Empire Zoysia - fungus to be aware of?
I was in the yard today and a lawn treatment salesman stopped by. Completmented me on our new Zoysia lawn. He had seen it last year when it was St. Augustine... a mess.
I have used these companies in the past, and in my opinion, in Florida, they're all crooks. I'd like to avoid using them if at all possible.
Our lawn looks perfect. There was nothing to really sell us on. But he warned that "Zoysia is prone to fungus". And then he picked out a piece of grass that he pulled close to the ground, not on top. And it had some red in it. And he said that was a fungus. Something that begins with "r". Not Red Thread, some scientific sounding word :-)
What could this have been? Is it a fungus? What can the homeowner buy to treat or prevent fungus in Zoysia lawns?
