does anyone know what this is? It is planted in a agricultural field at Keele university in staffordshire Uk.

uh....grass? lol. Hope someone can help you on this, cause I sure cant :O
Kinda reminds me of the Quackgrass or Johnson's Grass, but so hard to tell, without really seeing the sheaths where/how blades attach, etc.

I know I thought this was grass too but I dont know why it would be planted unless it has some remedial value to crops for the next year

Duplicate post answered some while ago. Unless you can go back and get a new picture you won't get any more information. It should be showing the flowering or seed heads by now which would help.
