Thoughts on this plant's ID?

Hi everyone,

My friend has this growing in a shady part of her Cheyenne, Wyoming, yard. I believe she said she brought it home from Nebraska. I thought it might be some sort of euphorbia, but my friend said the broken stems don't exude white, milky sap.

Anyone know? Thanks so much!

Looks like Mytle Spurge (which is a euphorbia)
