Hi,

I live in the Pacific Northwest and would like to know what this is cuz it sure is invading my space and keeps coming back if cut down.

Thanks in advance!

Gaultheria shallon 'Salal' as posted by olychick. Pruning Salal to remove dead wood or cut back an overgrown plant should be done in the spring.

Since it is a native plant, it is NOT, by definition, considered invasive. But an aggressive spreader for sure. You need to remove the root system if you want to remove the plant, as it spreads by underground rhizomes.
