Shade plant id?

delineavit(z6)June 18, 2014

What plant is this? Appears in the shady spots in my garden. Approx 1 - 1.5 tall. If it's a decent shade denizen I'll be glad to keep it...but I suspect it's not..?

Actaea (which now includes Cimicifuga racemosa). Have you seen it flower or any fruit yet? None of them are particularly weedy. The berries of A. pachypoda and A. rubra are poisonous although they are also very bitter.

AH yes. Thanks so much...! Would have recognized the flowers if I had just waited. Glad I didn't pull it all out.

Also, sorry for not replying to your mail; my address here was an old one and I didn't get it right away. Fixed now.
